here is your gentle place to be inside this day. a reminder that sometimes strength is found in letting go.
this is (about) entry #78 in our current series, How to Be Still.
There are moments in life where the challenge feels unspeakable. Where the depth of feeling is so profound, that moving through what is before us appears impossible.
When we are talked about.
When we are misunderstood.
When we recognize that what we thought was a relationship of safety isn’t quite what it seemed.
When we are disappointed.
When trust is broken.
When communication becomes fractured and a way forward seems unclear.
In these moments, our reflex is often to dig in our heels.
Try to prove what we’re not.
To defend.
To become endlessly on guard.
To take the present experience of pain, and turn it into the filter through which we see all of life.
But what if the strong thing isn’t defending, proving, or guarding?
What if digging in may be the easy thing, but not the best thing for you? For me?
Sometimes courage looks like letting go of the way we thought things would be, so we can move through the reality of what…is.
One step at a time.
Deeper into connection with ourselves.
Forward.
